TEXT FOR MEDITATION: “An
offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Arguments
separate friends like a gate locked with bars.”
(Proverbs 18:19 - NLT)
In King James version,
we have the following translation: “A
brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions
are like the bars of a castle.”
FOR REFLECTION: In
what situations and attitudes do we take in our lives, has it contributed to
the creation of strife, gossip, discussion, breaking relationships, and leaving
people harsh about us?
WHAT THE BIBLE
TEACHES AS A SOLUTION: “As far as you are concerned, do all you can to live in
peace with all people, my dear brothers, do not ever take a fancy to anyone,
but let God give you the punishment. For the Holy Scriptures say, 'I will
avenge myself, I will settle them,' says the Lord. But do as the Scriptures
say, 'If your enemy is hungry, give him food, if he is thirsty, give him water,
for thus you will make him burn with remorse and shame.' Do not let evil
overcome you, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12: 18-21 NLT)
COMMENTS: This is
the Gospel we have to live in our lives if we want to walk as Christ walked and
be according to His Image and likeness.
Forgiveness is
life, it is throwing away the emotional rubbish that has been thrown at us so
that we can live with our free emotions, being sure that God will deal with the
offense and the offender in the time and in the ways that only He knows. Our
part is to forgive; To deal with the offender and the offense is a part of God
in the process. Trust in the Word of God, it does not lie.
DO YOU FORGIVE ME?
